MemoPryl fact check: claims, sources, gaps

Quick answer

This MemoPryl fact check sorts claims into three piles: supported by a public source, supported only in part, and not checkable. The label wording is allowed but unproven. The badges are seller claims. The ingredient names come from a sibling pack, so they are unconfirmed for your bottle.

Three MemoPryl bottles, label B, Advanced Formula, 60 capsules
Label B render: three bottles of Advanced Formula, 60 capsules each.

How do you fact check a supplement label?

You match each claim to a named source, then mark what no source covers.

We used federal pages and published studies, listed at the end. Where a fact is not printed on any image we hold, we write "not published" rather than guess.

Label A claims "Supports Focus*", "Optimized Memory*" and "Improves Mental Clarity*". Label B claims "Supports Concentration*", "Supports Brain Energy*" and "Supports Productivity*". The two never appear together on one bottle image.

Which MemoPryl claims hold up?

Few can be confirmed, because the claims are broad and the amounts are missing.

"Supports Focus*" (label A)Structure/function wording needs no FDA approval (FDA, Structure/Function Claims)Allowed, unproven
"Optimized Memory*"NIH calls evidence for most memory supplements inconclusive (NCCIH, Supplements and Cognition)Not supported

"Doctor formulated"No doctor namedNot checkable

Are the ingredient names confirmed?

No. Six names come from a sibling pack, and the bottle you receive may differ.

They are phosphatidylserine, ginkgo biloba leaf, N-acetyl L-carnitine, St. John's wort, brahmi and L-glutamine. Amounts are not printed on any image we have.

On the research side, a large ginkgo trial in more than 3,000 adults found no reduction in dementia (DeKosky 2008, GEM trial, JAMA), while a bacopa meta-analysis of trials lasting 12 weeks or more suggested it may help attention speed (Kongkeaw 2014, Bacopa meta-analys.). Those trials used standardized extracts at amounts we cannot match to your bottle.

  1. Label A“Optimized Memory*”No trial has tested MemoPryl. In the 3,069-person GEM trial, ginkgo did not lower dementia rates versus placebo; NCCIH calls the evidence for most supplements inconclusive. (DeKosky 2008, GEM trial, JAMA) (NCCIH, Supplements and Cognition)
  2. Label A“Improves Mental Clarity*”'Improves' is a strong verb for a structure/function claim. Bacopa trials of 12 weeks or more reported faster attention in a meta-analysis, at 300 mg or more of extract, an amount no bottle image prints. (Kongkeaw 2014, Bacopa meta-analys.) (LiverTox, Bacopa monnieri)
  3. Label A“Supports Focus*”St. John's wort is studied for mood, not focus, and glutamine has no memory trial. No bottle image prints an amount of any ingredient. (NCCIH, St. John's Wort in depth) (MSK, Glutamine)
  4. Label B“Supports Concentration*”Ingredient-level evidence at doses this site cannot see. Health claims generally need randomized human testing of the product itself. (FTC, Health Products Guidance)
  5. Label B“Supports Brain Energy*”'Brain energy' is not a medical measure. A Cochrane review of acetyl-L-carnitine in dementia found no effect on severity. (NIH ODS, Carnitine) (Pennisi 2020, ALC in dementia)
  6. Label B“Supports Productivity*”Productivity is not something supplement trials measure. The FTC says personal stories are never enough to back a health claim. (FTC, Health Products Guidance)
  7. Both labelsThe FDA asteriskStructure/function wording is allowed with the FDA disclaimer. It is not FDA approval and not a disease claim. (FDA, Structure/Function Claims)
  8. Badges“Doctor formulated”, “GMP certified”, “FDA registered”No doctor, certifier or audit is named. FDA registers facilities; it does not approve them or the supplement. (FDA, Hidden Ingredients) (FDA, Using Dietary Supplements)
  9. Bottle30 capsules and Cognitive Support, or 60 capsules and Advanced FormulaThe two bottle images in the brand set disagree. Only the bottle you receive settles it.

Claims as printed on the two bottle images. Health claims need competent and reliable scientific evidence, generally human trials of the same product (FTC, Health Products Guidance).

What should I check next?

Check the back of the bottle you receive, then your medicines, then the refund terms.

St. John's wort can weaken many medicines and ginkgo can raise bleeding risk (FDA, Mixing Meds and Supplements). Keep taking prescribed medicine and ask your doctor or pharmacist before you start.

FAQ01

MemoPryl questions people ask

Does a 'supports' claim mean a supplement works?

No. A 'supports' statement is structure/function wording that FDA does not pre-approve. It must be truthful, and the label must say FDA has not evaluated it, but it is not proof of effect.

How can I verify a lot number on a supplement bottle?

Ask the seller for the lab report that names that exact lot, then compare the number on your bottle. A lot number alone, without a report, only shows the bottle was tracked.

Are badges like 'GMP certified' proof of quality?

Not by themselves. A badge counts only if it names the certifier and you can confirm it with that body. The ten badges on MemoPryl pages name none.
