That model is legal and common, and it is not a mark against any product by itself. It also means the page recommending a product often profits from your click. A "review" that ends in a buy button deserves the same scrutiny as an ad.
Check: look for a line that says the page earns from links. If there is none, assume it does. Also look for a phone number, a street address and written refund terms, since a promoter can hide behind a form but a real desk answers the phone.
