FDA Registered Facility: A Badge, Not an Approval
An FDA registered facility is a site that told FDA it makes or handles food products, including supplements. Registration is a filing, not a grade. FDA does not approve manufacturing facilities, so the badge says nothing about quality or about whether a capsule works.

What does FDA registered facility actually mean?
It means the site has put its name on a list kept by FDA. That is all the phrase promises.
Registration tells FDA where food and supplement products are made. It does not mean an inspector visited, graded the site or tested a batch.
FDA itself warns that a claim of an "FDA-approved facility" is a warning sign, because the agency does not approve manufacturing facilities (FDA, Hidden Ingredients). A label that says "registered" is closer to the truth. A label that says "approved" is not.
Read the badge as a statement from the seller. It describes a filing. It does not describe results.
Does FDA approve supplements or the places that make them?
No. FDA does not approve dietary supplements for safety or effectiveness before they are sold.
Under the 1994 law that governs supplements, the agency is not authorized to approve them before they reach the market, and many products arrive without FDA being told (FDA, Using Dietary Supplements). Companies must still make sure their products meet the safety rules and that label claims are truthful (NIH ODS, Supplements Need To Know).
So three things are easy to mix up. Use the table to keep them apart.
| Phrase | What it can mean | What it cannot mean |
|---|---|---|
| FDA registered | The site is on a list | A passed inspection |
| Approved by FDA | True for drugs only | True for supplements |
| GMP certified | A claim about practices | Proof without a named certifier |
What should I check next on the label?
Check three things: a named site, a lot number and a facts panel.
A registration badge with no factory name gives you nothing to look up. A lot number lets you ask the seller about one batch. A Supplement Facts panel shows what is inside and how much.
FDA also lists warning signs for products with hidden ingredients, such as claims that seem too good to be true and multiple rave reviews (FDA, Hidden Ingredients). A facility badge belongs on that same checklist, not above it.
- Is a factory or distributor named on the bottle?
- Is a lot number printed?
- Is there a Supplement Facts panel with amounts?
- Does any claim use the word "approved"?

See packsWhat does the MemoPryl badge say, and what is still missing?
The MemoPryl site shows an "FDA registered" badge and a "Made in the USA" mark. Both are claims by the seller.
No factory is named on any image we hold, and no registration number appears. The bottle images show no Supplement Facts panel either. The quality claims page goes through all ten badges one by one.

The lot references MP-26/ME-4190 and MP-4190-26-ME are seller references, not lab proof MP-4190-26-ME.
How can I ask the seller for proof?
Ask in writing and ask for specifics. A vague question gets a vague answer.
Email [email protected] with your order ID and ask for the facility name, the registration number and the lot report for your bottle. If the answer is "not available", you have learned something useful before you rely on the badge.
The disclaimer page explains what the FDA statement on a supplement label means. Keep taking any prescribed medicine, and ask your doctor or pharmacist before you start a new supplement.

FAQ01
MemoPryl questions people ask
Is an FDA registered facility the same as FDA approved?
No. Registration puts a site on an FDA list. Approval is a review of safety and effectiveness, and FDA does not do that for supplements or for the buildings that make them.
Can I look up whether a supplement factory is registered?
Only if the label names the factory. Without a name there is nothing to search for. If the bottle is silent, ask the seller for the facility name in writing.
Does a registered facility make a supplement safe?
No. Registration says where a product is made. It does not test the capsules or confirm that the label matches what is inside.
